Each bag of Ethical Bean coffee comes with a unique 2D emark. Using your Ethical Bean iPhone app, you can scan the emark and discover everything you’d possibly want to know about the story of the coffee you’re holding in your hands.

No iPhone? No worries. You can also use a mobile browser to type in the Lot Number located next to the emark to access the information.

Find out who picked your coffee. Our iPhone app gives you a real connection to the coffee growers and farmers we work with. You can drill down to find out which co-op your coffee is from, how many members that co-op has, see their certifications and find out about the coffee varieties they grow.

An interactive map allows you to zoom in to see the location and elevation your coffee was grown, and the photo gallery show you what life is like at the specific co-op that grew your beans.

We give you all the information you could possibly want about the roasting and cupping process for each of our coffees.

Find out exact roast date, roast profile, drop temperature, and cupping notes… even which of our roasters roasted your coffee. Was it Jason, Jessica, Lloyd or Aaron?

Learn How Coffee is Graded.

We care about the quality of our coffee so much, we have our very own Q Grader inhouse – and the very first Q Grader in Canada.

Our Q Grader, Aaron De Lazzer, makes sure we buy only the best green coffee beans, then we roast them to perfection, cup them (a process similar to wine tasting), score them according to the Cup of Excellence grading form, and, if they’re worthy enough, we stamp them with an “e” and send them out for you to enjoy.
